Vacant House Fire in The Greater Eastwood Area WHAT: Vacant House Fire WHEN: April 10, 2021 at 6:48 p.m. WHERE: 4100 block of Polk, 77023 INJURIES: No reported injuries. PROPERTY SAVED: Not available. DAMAGE: $180 thousand in estimated damage. CAUSE: Under investigation. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within two minutes to find a 2-story vacant home fully involved on fire. They began a defensive attack and after an initial knock down, forced entry by removing burglar bars. Crews conducted a performed a primary search for a report of possible homeless people trapped inside the home. No one was found and the fire was extinguished. Firefighters pulled the ceiling and checked the attic to fully extinguish additional hotspots. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Firefighters from Stations 23, 8, 46, 17, 18, 25, 7, 30 and Rescue 42 responded to this incident.
